The "Pouty" baby mold 252 was designed by the French Society of Babies and Toys (SFBJ).
The SFBJ wanted to compete with German manufacturers. In 1910, the Germans took over the market by making dolls with various characters that have become very popular on the American market.
This beautiful doll was the SFBJ answer to the German dolls movement. SFBJ designed their own molds, the 200 series dolls (SFBJ 251, SFBJ 252, SFBJ 256 ...). Thus, the SFBJ 252 became the most adorable of all the "Pouty" dolls.
This character baby is nowadays very rare and much sought after, which is why old babies can reach high prices.
The original "Pouty" baby had a bisque head with closed mouth, movable glass eyes and a body with articulated limbs.
The most common dressing was the little sailor with a natural hair wig.
We offer reproductions of this doll in 27 cm (total height of the doll).
Our reproductions are manufactured with the greatest care according to the original molds.
Fine porcelain heads are hand painted and signed by GB, Georgette BRAVOT.
